Summit

Watchung Reservation 6 mile trails offering a 2,000 acre preserve

Summit is known to be a desirable place to live with a small-town feel and a population of about 22,000 residents. Charming and sophisticated it offers residents over 200 unique boutiques and a variety of restaurants.  Summit also has one of the highest incomes per capita in the state.

Multiple bids on homes are common with about one-half of the homes listed between $1 million to $2 million. Being about 25 miles from NYC with an excellent train line into the city as well as easy access to Rt. 78 and the Morris Turnpike make this town a commuter's dream.  Newark Liberty National Airport is about 10 miles away, and the famous Short Hills Mall is practically next door.  In the center of town, you will find excellent shops with spas, boutiques, art galleries, and restaurants all within a charming walk from the village green.

New Jersey Transit Midtown Direct train continues to be a major draw to this charming city, as well as the variety and choices of architecture in homes dating back to the early 20th century. Community programs abound with a nine-hole par 3 golf course, an aquatic center and a seniors club.

On the cultural side, The Summit Playhouse is the community theater in town and there is a very active artists community at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey on Elm Street. This is the state's largest institution dedicated to viewing, teaching, and learning about contemporary art; and features workshops at every level.

Visit Root's Steak House on Springfield Avenue or the retro diner in town- The Summit Diner for a bit of nostalgia. Don't forget the Farmer's Market or the ever-popular Natale's Bakery on Broad Street.

Schools are very important and excellent including 2 centers with preschool and kindergarten, 5 elementary schools serving grades 1-5, the Summit Middle School grades 6-8, and Summit High School for grades 9-12 (servicing about 1200 students. Many private schools are nearby as well.
