In 2018 rated "Best Places to Live" in New Jersey. Watchung Reservation 6 mile historical trail Nature Reserve

Watchung, which sweeps across the Watchung Mountain Range offers spectacular views of NYC from the skyline ridge of Johnston Drive- overlooking the entire valley- clear to New York.  Unlike many bedroom communities, Watchung offers large properties, undulating hills, narrow winding roads, abundant wildlife, and two lakes:  Lake Watchung and Best Lake.

The above photo showcases the beautiful links of Twin Brooks CC described as one of the most scenic courses in the Northeast.  Typically, new homes are in the 5,000 - 8,000 square foot range while many antique, historical colonials are charmingly interspersed among the newer subdivisions.   Large homes are sprinkled throughout the borough and because of a shortage of building lots, many older homes have been demolished and replaced with larger homes.  This is particularly evident on Johnston Drive where commanding views of the Manhattan skyline is in full view- more than 20 miles away.

Luxury homes that offer 6,500 square feet with 5 or more bedrooms are evident in Tudor-style, or newer Bucks Country-style colonials- also evident are smaller colonials, ranches, and Cape-Cod styles available on less than an acre near Lake Watchung.  Townhome condominiums are located with easy access to Rt. 78 and Rt. 22 known as Stonegate offering 72 three-bedroom luxury townhome choices. Also, Lakeside Villas a community of 52 townhomes age-restricted for 55+ is available as well as the recently constructed Monterey Towers a two-story building offering 13 luxury, exclusive units ranging in floor space of 1,800 - 3,400 S.F. of amazing living.

You may expect an excellent education within Watchung Hills Regional High School- a Blue Ribbon school (one of 266 nationwide); Bayberry School and Valley View School.   The schools are highly rated and offer a diverse and challenging curriculum.  Culturally, the Watchung Art Center, a venue for the performing arts is located near Lake Watchung featuring jazz, folk music, photography classes, art classes, and exhibits and comedy shows- all open to the public.

Trailside Nature and Science Center, the Watchung Reservation, and jogging paths are nearby.

Shopping, restaurants (Water and Wine on the lake) spas (Stress Relief Spa and Snap Fitness)  deli's, florists, Jeweler, pizza shops- banks, it's all here. The Blue Star Shopping Center is a convenient drive located on Rt 22.  Happily- the Short Hills Mall is a mere 13 miles away. What else could a girl ask for?
