More and better wine is being grown and produced in New Jersey with new wineries coming on board every year!
The new Meadowbrook Winery in Tewksbury is quickly gaining a reputation among area high-end restaurants for its quality wines and beginning next year, you can taste what they produce where the grapes are grown.
The winery has received township approval to build a 2,000-square-foot tasting room at 18 King St.
The seasonal tasting room will likely open in early 2025.
“We set certain conditions to minimize capacity as a favor to ourselves and our neighbors in this small, rural community,” “We don’t plan on accommodating large crowds. We are setting ourselves up to be more of a higher-end, curated experience.”
While the tasting room is under construction, people can purchase Meadowbrook Winery wines by the glass at the new Red Horse by David Burke at the former Bernards Inn in Bernardsville, Juniper Hill in the Annandale section of Clinton Township and the Stone House at Stirling Ridge in Warren.
The Tewksbury Inn, just a half-mile from the winery, also offers Meadowbrook's wines for retail sale.
The owners in Tewkesbury had previously applied to convert a barn on their property on Cold Brook Road into a 1,695-square-foot winery and tasting room, but the proposal was dropped when neighbors and environmentalists objected to the plan on one of the township's few dirt roads.
So when 18 King St. Tewkesbury went up for sale, the winemakers purchased it in August 2022 for $1.6 million. The property is adjacent to the winery’s production facility and some of its 13 acres of vines at another King Street property and are also owned by the same family.

Quality is the key word. Meadowbrook Winery hopes to prove itself with its wines that are 100% New Jersey-grown and in the future, possibly 100% estate-grown.
All grapes are managed and picked by hand. (Of course! We live in the Garden State!)! And vineyards are strategically placed so they getting a lot of sun, wind, etc. on the fruit so it’s staying clean!
“Meadowbrook is focusing on making wines to enjoy and like to drink and within that, we have a focused portfolio.” The focus is on making distinct, high-quality cool-climate wines that will eventually raise the bar of what can be done in NJ.
