When designing your outdoor space, it’s good to carefully consider how scent can enhance your environment. Integrating aromas, such as smoky, savory or floral should be intentional and purposeful. It should not just look beautiful, but it should engage all the senses and reflect your lifestyle a well as creating a lasting impression to all those who linger for and extra moment.
An artfully designed outdoor space should appeal to all our senses. Smell holds a remarkable power adding emotion to our experience. It influences our mood, our memory and can stir our emotions. It should be a place of enjoyment when entertaining or enjoying an intimate evening with family or solitude for creativity and reflection. In my opinion, it is as important as any other room inside our home.
When you think of an aroma you think of garden flowers. For me, delightful floral scents and fragrant plants invites relaxation on quiet evenings such as gardenias from well placed planters, or the subtle perfume of roses in full bloom. Beautiful! And not to mention the special allure plantings add to the overall value of a home when you plan to sell.

There is a full range of experiences that nature and design can offer. Consider the scent of a crackling fire – as summer fades and crisp autumn appears, the smoky, earthy aroma from a wood-burning firepit or fireplace evokes warmth, comfort and nostalgia.
