MANAGING EXPECTATIONS IN THE MARKETPLACE

No, I don’t mean Charles Dickens!

Right now, Sellers have the expectation of still getting top dollar, above asking, and no contingency offers within a short time of going live on the market.

 

Right now, Buyers have the expectation that the market is going to crash, we are headed for a recession, there is no one is on the market to buy, and if they are going to buy, it better be at a deep discount.

 

And as I like to say:  Conflict arises when expectations differ.

 

How to handle these differences will make the difference between crushing it in this market or fighting an uphill battle.   

 

One way to keep the expectations in place for negotiations between two parties is to make sure you, as my client, feel heard and understood and that your feelings as to why you feel a certain way are considered.  They must feel validated before moving forward.

 

For clarification, I use data, data, and more data to explain why you are feeling the way you do and what are the actual facts after you have explained your reasoning.  Patience here goes a long way.

I will as you clarifying questions to fully understand your viewpoint and take everything into consideration.

 

The more I can marry your expectations with what is really happening in the marketplace, the easier your understanding will be!
