REFLECTING THE TASTE AND MOOD OF CURRENT TRENDS

Taking a look at some interesting trends for 2023!  (Isn't there always something?)

There’s literally something for everyone in 2023!

Please remember:  No matter how you feel about trends, always use what you love in your home! Because your home is just that… YOUR HOME!

Some top trending ideas today:

NATURAL WOOD

Who doesn't like or have natural wood as a starting point for their home?

Beautiful natural wood is making a big comeback again! It’s classical- and never goes out of style.

Soft natural wood is coming back into style. Although I don't think it ever left! The colors are warm and often light.

All of the grays are wonderful but we are looking toward a lovely warm, honeyed color palette. The beauty of wood is always in style but it is on-trend for 2023.

TRADITIONAL STYLING

.

This trend is still on the rise in 2023 and gaining steam!

Traditional styling is another classic that has landed in the trend spotlight for 2023. It stems from a yearning to revisit the past. Art Deco, Mid-Century Modern, and what is now known as Granny Chic are all part of this big trend right now. Think of mixing old and new.

I love the look of Traditional styling because it uses all the best practices of good interior design with lots of personal touches. Transitional Style is a megatrend that is all about the traditional vibe!  Think, rolled-arm sofas that are cushy but a bit slimmed down. We will also be seeing more patterns and colors mixed with beautiful heirlooms or vintage finds that we may already have.  Hooray!

Look to the past and decorate your home with your favorites from the 1960s, 70s, and 80s! These decades are having a moment (again) in 2023.  We have a need to bring back the past because it is familiar and comfortable. When our world is so unpredictable, clinging to familiar things is comfortable and safe!

Also, Black is Back! as an Accent!

.

Black and white have been strong trends for the last year or so. Black is both a classic and on-trend in 2023 as illustrated in the chair above.  Simple and elegant- adding a bit of punch to an otherwise monochromatic room.

WALLPAPERED POWDER ROOMS

I'm a fan!  In smaller spaces, it's wonderful to let your creative self indulge in a bit of whimsy and pattern.  Wallpaper has been on-trend for a few years now and is still very popular, especially in powder rooms. This is one place you can add big, bold patterns.

THINGS THAT STAY IN STYLE

Buying furnishings that are better quality and timeless with the thought of keeping them is making a big comeback. It is a big shift from the disposable furniture mindset over the last couple of decades.   (read my recent blog about sustainability entitled: Living and Loving Sustainably)

TEXTURE, TEXTURE, TEXTURE

This is another trend that never goes completely out of style!  Texture is necessary for depth, warmth, and life in a room. It’s a big trend in 2023. Texture will be a strong trend in 2023. We should start to see texture done in new and exciting ways besides carpeting, like lime-washed walls, brick or textured tiles, and lots of wicker and baskets.

2023 seems to be a year that has something for everyone. This is a year of personality-driven decorating!

Remember, trends come and go- so embrace the trends you love. Home decor is and has always been about creating and curating a home with your personality and lifestyle in mind!  Let the creativity and good practices flow!

Need help deciding?  With my association with the Interior Design Society- (IDS),  new trends are always top of mind for me!  Take advantage if you are listing your home soon- call me and I will share my expertise! (or if you are just waiting to add a fresh, new look to your rooms!)
