FEEL AT “HOME” WHERE YOU WORK!

Home needs to be a soft place to land. The same holds true with your workspace. Create a comfortable, flexible, inspiring environment…and people will come.

ADDING COMFORT & VALUE TO YOUR HOME

This home office has a secret!

As homeowners try to squeeze more out of their spaces, the once humble, now elevated Murphy bed is finding a new fan base in suburbia.

This home office has everything.

There’s a sitting area with citron yellow accent chairs and a coffee table; a desk with floral hardware; splashy patterns in bold colors on the rug and wallpaper; and a custom neon sign in glowing pink.

But the office also contains a secret: The teal wall unit with built-in shelving with artwork permanently affixed to its facade actually contains a full-size Murphy bed.

Here's where you have a three-in-one room where you can work and entertain, and overnight guests can comfortably sleep. What could be a better use for a room?

The bed is really a great use of space, and a great way to make a room really function for a lot of different things.  Having guests or family over feels easy and effortless.

Murphy beds have always served a purpose as space-savers in small urban apartments where space and rooms are limited.  As more suburbanites have been working from home Murphy beds are practical as they gain the most use out of their home offices.

Gaining in popularity during the 2008 recession, and again during the flight out of office buildings, to the home office, this versatile bed took on new dimensions.

When clients were forced to remain in their homes rather than upgrade, they were trying to make more use of space that they already had. Enter the Murphy Bed idea!

Murphy beds now come in a range of options.

A bed that folds out of the frame and has a couple of cubbies can be most efficient when thinking about a home office/occasional guest room.

There are also prefabricated options as well as bespoke.

Some are designed with sliding bookcases in front and others with desks attached to the outside that fold up when the beds come down.

while still having the space for other uses —

Rooms can be “dark and moody” with a walnut-stained Murphy bed, forest green vertical shiplap wall, and gold accents, which are perfect for a library/office/study vib.

In addition to their functionality, another part of Murphy beds’ appeal is the element of surprise and delight they add to a room. Which translates to a selling point when moving.

In this example, clients like seeing the pink wall as a background on Zoom calls. There’s kind of a fun, secret element about it.

In this example, a color-matched Murphy bed unit features a pink Oxford shirt paint. When the bed is up, even the built-in shelves with knickknacks are concealed — on Zoom calls, the clients’ colleagues thought it was a just cool pink wall.  There’s kind of a fun, secret-y element about it, as well as it is practical and utilitarian!
